Water Heaters - The Test

Here it is, the final installment to the Plumber’s Without Cracks “This Old Water Heater” series. We’ve come a long way: You know how to extend the life of your water heater, you can determine when it needs to be replaced, and you understand your replacement options. Now, the guys at G&C Plumbing and Heating thought it would be helpful to give you a little yes or no test to determine what kind of water heater you should get because, well, it’s better than flipping a coin. For sure.

So, should you get a new, fandangled, tankless, on-demand, water heating system or replace the dead heap of metal in your basement with an updated version of itself? Answer the following questions, yes or no, to find out:

  1. Do you have four or more people showering at your house?

  2. Do you have two or more bathrooms?

  3. Are you sick of taking cold showers?

  4. Are you planning a major bathroom renovation?

  5. Are you thinking about changing your heating fuel source?

  6. Do you have a few extra grand laying around or access to financing for that much?

  7. Is having unlimited hot water currently at the top of your home improvement list?

Ok, how did you do? If you answered “yes” to four or more of the questions, you, my friend, should be in the market for a tankless, on demand, water heating system!

Come on down!

Before running to Home Depot and buying a system, be sure to figure out the following:

What size do you need, or how many tanks? What fuel type do you have and does it work with the system you need/want? What is the installation and maintenance required?

Proper installation depends on many factors including fuel type, climate, local building code requirements, and safety issues. It’s best to have a qualified plumber (Perhaps G&C Plumbing and Heating) install your demand water heater. Greg and Brandon can provide you with the following:

  • Cost estimates in writing

  • References

  • A superb rating with the local Better Business Bureau

  • Local permits (if necessary)

  • Understanding of local building codes

If you answered “no” to at least four of our super sneaky test questions, your best bet is to replace your storage tank water heater with a new model. Brandon and Greg will happily hook you up with the latest and greatest.

And, don’t worry, you’re not missing out on a fancy party or access to a cool club just because you’re not in the market for a tankless system. Remember, either way, storage or on-demand, a water heater is still a chunk of metal hiding in a closet in your basement. It’s not a new, six foot bubble tub or Italian marble flooring.

But, the guys at G&C can give you that if you’re interested.

What? G&C Plumbing and Heating does bathroom renovations????

They sure do.
